STYLING BY BEC
About Me
Hi, I’m Becky or Bec. I’m a fashion industry professional with over 20 years’ experience.
I started my journey in the fashion world like many, as a retail assistant in small designer boutiques. As my passion developed and people started to show an interest in my personal style, I decided that I would take my knowledge to freelance styling. From there I launched, ran and managed the Personal Shopping department in a Fenwick store in Kingston, London.
Here we are at present day. I have returned to freelance styling - now I can visit client’s homes and help them edit and restyle their wardrobes. I can sell any pre-loved clothes via my online shop and through various pre-loved pop up events I hold throughout the year, whilst I continue to provide my personal shopping services. Not being tied to one store I am able to fulfil my client’s brief more efficiently and effectively.
I also decided it was time to take the leap into social media, so I launched @stylingbybec – a platform where I can give everyone, not just my clients, free styling advice and inspiration. I didn’t expect it to take off the way it has and since launching, I have had the opportunity to partner with some incredible businesses and brands.
So, here I am, as Styling By Bec and I’m absolutely loving it!
My Approach
I approach every client with empathy. I understand that fashion can feel intimidating and unattainable to some, but I firmly believe in breaking down those barriers by helping everyone enjoy the benefits of fashion; no matter what their age, size or budget. I have dressed thousands of people and this extensive experience has given me the insight and confidence to tailor each appointment to every individual’s needs.
Retail Therapy
Clothes and accessories are fun, but when they are put together well, they can also be a fantastic tool in helping to build self-confidence, a better body image and even happiness. Over the years I have helped women and men who are recovering from illness, bereavement and divorce, and women who are coping with body changes after giving birth or having had surgery. It may seem superficial, but I have seen how clothes can transform and empower people. If you can dress with confidence it is extremely liberating. Beautiful clothes can make you look and feel amazing. Sometimes we all need to put on a bit of armour so we can face the day!
